Soprano
Ella is the soprano soloist in Mahler’s beautiful Symphony No. 2 “Resurrection” for the closing night of the Bold Tendencies Festival in Peckham.
“We close the season with Gustav Mahler Symphony No. 2 ‘Resurrection’, presented by the Philharmonia Orchestra and Philharmonia Chorus, led by brilliant young Greek conductor Nefeli Chadouli in her first ever UK appearance. Mahler’s monumental work for orchestra and voices offers a universal message, the search for sustainable purpose and meaning amidst human suffering. As the world trembles and fractures a massed, otherworldly chorus sings in primal light, “Rise again, yes, rise again you will!”. The event will take place in the distinguished presence of Marina Mahler, Mahler’s granddaughter and president of the Mahler Foundation.
Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) is one of the most significant composers of the 20th century, whose symphonies remain a high point of orchestral writing to this day.
Athens-born Nefeli Chadouli (b. 1993) holds a prestigious Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship (Associate Fellow 2024-26); and is currently completing her MA in Orchestral Conducting at Universität de Kunste Berlin. She is the permanent conductor of Berlin’s Babylon Orchester; and founder of the Youth Orchestra “Periklis Koukos” at the National Conservatory of Greece.”
